Epilating

Who hates shaving and then having stubble not even 24 hours later?

I found out about epilating in 2016. I tried it because it seemed easier, and less messy, than waxing at home and it still removed the hair from the root.

At first, it hurt, like A LOT! My legs were red and bumpy after my first session, and not even all the hair was gone! At that point, I definitely didn’t want to use my epilator to rip out my under arm hair, or any other sensitive areas…

I waited a day, and then shaved. I know the point of epilating was to replace shaving, but it’s easier for epilators to grab short hair than long. A few days later, I epilated my legs again. It didn’t hurt as much. The hair that was epilated the first time had not grown back yet. I could still feel the hairs being pulled out by their roots, but it was less hair, so less pain. The more I epilated my legs, the less it hurt.

After becoming comfortable with epilating my legs, I decided to try it on my under arms…

My eyes literally watered from the pain, and I even saw specs of blood! I looked at myself in the bathroom mirror, contemplating whether to stop or keep going. That waxing scene from The 40 Year Old Virgin popped into my head, maybe if I yelled out Kelly Clarkson’s name, it would help, hah. I decided to keep going, reminding myself how bad it hurt the first time on my legs. My under arms were red, blotchy and even a little bloody, but they were done. I reassured myself, next time it wouldn’t hurt as bad.

In the five years I’ve been epilating, there have been a few times I’ve taken too long of a break between sessions and noticed it would hurt more starting up again. Ideally, I like to epilate once a week. This may seem too often, since a lot of epilators claim skin could be smooth for up to 4 weeks, but it works better for me this way. When I epilate weekly, there is less hair to remove, so it doesn’t hurt as much and it doesn’t take as long. I also like to epilate on days that are best for retarding hair growth. Here is a chart for 2021 that I got from https://shop.morroccomethod.com/Lunar-Hair-Care

I have only had two epilators, and they were both Epilady brand, so that is what I recommend. However, there are a lot of different epilators to choose from! Here are some to check out.
