Maybe some people watch too much TV. Maybe some people don’t watch any. Either way, if you’re going to turn on the television, here’s my list of the top 12 shows to watch with your kids. They start for older kids and go younger, although my 5 year old has watched and enjoyed them all. Some of the shows at the bottom might be too young for older kids.
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
This show is in its second season “The Curse of the Shadows.” The series finale is this Friday. My pre teen loves this show, like my husband and I did (the original series) growing up. Our 5 year old says it’s a little scary, but she still gets excited to watch it. The characters in this show are great, smart, determined over- all good kids. This is a cool family show, if your little ones aren’t too scared.
Secrets of Sulphur Springs
The first season just ended. If you haven’t seen it, you can watch it all consecutively and only have that cliff hanger feeling once, instead of at the end of each 25 minute episode, like our family did, haha.
This show is about ghosts and time travel! This might be my favorite family show, it’s interesting, and not scary at all.
America’s Funniest Home Videos
A family classic. We are always down for a laugh, so we love watching AFV.
The Floor is Lava
This is a show where teams compete to make it across a room full of lava the quickest, if at all. We like to predict who will win and who will fall in.
This show first premiered in 1986. It has been on and off the air, in different variations, a few times. Teams compete, answering questions and doing physical challenges.
Get Out of My Room
This show is fun to watch. They make over kids’ rooms, and show you how along the way. Maybe this will inspire your little one to add a personal touch to their room.
Henry Danger ran for 5 seasons, the series finale was in 2020. This show is about a boy who becomes a super hero’s sidekick, and his life trying to keep it a secret.
This show is about a group of kids that invent video games. You can even download their game, Skywhale, and have a family competition, like we did, haha. The series ended in 2019.
The Amazing World of Gumball
This show is animated, and anything can happen. They have an episode involving the Golden Girls, it’s not at all what you’d expect, haha.
My husband and I grew up watching SpongeBob, now our kids are too. It’s cool to watch an episode, and remember watching it at your child’s age. New episodes and movies keep coming out!
Storybots are robots who go on missions to learn about things. I occasionally get the song “1,2,3 check out my horns” in my head and we haven’t watched Storybots in months! haha
Kids are agents that help people with odd problems. This show helps young ones learn how to walk through math problems, and it’ll probably make them laugh.
Have a good family show? Let me know in the comments 🙂
