I’ll Pick More Daisies

I’m not 50, but one shouldn’t wait until they are to read or watch either of these.

Live your life, and really soak it in. Notice all the little things around you. Hold on a little longer while giving your kids a hug. Take time to do things that make you happy. We are all getting older. Right now, this moment, is the youngest you’ll ever be. Enjoy it 💜

A poem by Nadine Stair

I Would Pick More Daisies

If I had to live my life over,
I’d dare to make more mistakes next time.
I’d relax.
I would limber up.
I would be sillier than I’ve been this trip.
I would take fewer things seriously.
I would take more chances.
I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers.
I would eat more ice cream and less beans.
I would perhaps have more actual troubles, but I’d have fewer imaginary ones.

You see I’m one of those people who live sensibly and sanely,
hour after hour, day after day.
Oh, I’ve had my moments, and if I had to do it over again, I’d have more of them.
In fact, I’d try to have nothing else.
Just moments, one after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day.

I’ve been one of those people who never goes anywhere without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat and a parachute.

If I had to do it again,
I would travel lighter than I have.
If I had to live my life over,
I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall.
I would go to more dances.
I would ride more merry- go rounds.
I would pick more daisies.

I’ll Pick More Daisies (TV-1955)  RICHARD DENNING

Who knows how our “what if” moments would have turned out. What does picking more daisies mean? I think as long as we are appreciating our lives and enjoying the little things, we are living life right. Each moment is a daisy, something wonderful that should not be taken for granted. Slow down and think about it 💜

  1. I’ll pick more daisies…
Nice poem. There are so many what ifs in our lives, we need to live life to the fullest, making the best out of it. Leaving no rooms for regrets.

  2. I actually came across this poem in my 20’s…and it hit home, then. As an artist and entrepreneur, I was able to follow most of this. Now at 73…I just smile and nod in agreement, and think…I did this! Great post!

  3. Beautiful poem and message! I have always been the kind of person to live in the moment as much as I can. For most of my young adulthood, this was a thing that was frowned upon. You had to always be planning and goal setting and essentially living in the future. I much prefer living in this exact moment since it is really the only moment we have. Thanks for sharing and linking with me! I am off to pick some daisies!
